In August, 2003, Cynthia Duncan, Inc. launched The Altered Book Club™. The first club of its kind, The Altered Book Club™ is dedicated to providing inspiration to altered book and collage artists. The Altered Book Club™ shipped its first kit full of craft supplies for altered book making to nearly 100 eager members in November, 2003. Every two months from that day forward our members have anxiously awaited their kits filled with decorative papers, collage images, transparencies, fibers, 3-D collage embellishments, found items, stickers, and more. The early kits included a full-color newsletter showcasing altered book art. Our members were so excited by the newsletter that we transformed it into Altered Arts™ magazine. All members now receive Altered Arts™ as part of their membership.

The first few kits were assembled in Cyndi's basement with the help of family and neighborhood children. We quickly outgrew that arrangement, and now our kits are assembled by a local Adult Workshop.

In less than a year, membership in The Altered Book Club™ nearly quadrupled. The Altered Book Club™ spans the globe with members in seven different countries.
